These terms apply when you access or use Backyard Lap Timer, an experimental browser app for RC car practice. By using the app, you agree to these terms.

Experimental tool

The app is provided for personal practice and informational use. It is an alpha prototype. Lap detection and timing can be affected by lighting, camera placement, motion, browser behavior and other conditions. Results may be incomplete or inaccurate. Do not use the app as an official race timing system or rely on it for safety-critical decisions. You are responsible for operating your vehicle and equipment safely.

Your data and device

Saved Garage information and lap history are currently kept in your browser on your device. There is no account sign-in, cloud backup or cross-device lap-history sync in the current app. Clearing browser data may permanently remove saved records, so export a backup if you want to keep them. The app may use your camera only after you choose to open it and grant browser permission. See the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully and do not interfere with its operation, attempt to disrupt its hosting, or use it to violate another person's rights. You are responsible for the content you enter and for keeping any exported backup secure.

Availability and changes

Features may change, be interrupted or be discontinued as the prototype develops. No particular availability, timing accuracy, data recovery or future feature is promised.

Disclaimer and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the app is provided without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the project maintainer is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, loss of locally stored data, or inaccurate timing results. These terms do not limit any rights or liability that applicable law does not allow to be limited.

Changes to these terms

Revised terms will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use after a revision takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
